Musique Sur Papier, Expo Internationale
See the sounds, hear the colours… The 15 designers assembled by curator Pat Hamou for the international exhibition entitled ‘Music on Paper’ have made a living out of mixing the aural and visual senses. United by their love of music and silk-screening, each will present 3 to 5 works drawn from the international music scene. Which bands will be represented? You name it, we’ll have it!
Taking its roots in the psychedelia of the late 1960’s, the last dozen years have seen the poster art movement reach a meteoric rise in the US, Canada and Europe, thanks to events like SXSW’s Flat Stock and sites such as GigPosters.com. This will be the first exhibit of its kind in Canada.
At the 4220 du Saint-Jean Baptiste, 4220 Drolet (corner Rachel)
Vernissage – July 6 from 5 pm – 9pm
Free admission until July 20
Nomadic Settlers – Settled Nomads
The group exhibition Nomadic Settlers – Settled Nomads is part of a research on contemporary nomadism, dealing with the complex theme of the human sense of settlement and its manifold facets. The concept of nomadism, migration, settlement will be perceived in a meta-level ranging from the physical to the imaginary, existence and non-existence, still with both feet on the ground. A process of communication between artists and art works, between own and foreign, between old and new is instigated, in which the visitors of the exhibition actively take part and become part of a circumstance.
Until 28 August 2011

Contemporary Works by Four Berlin Artists
What the internationally known artists Olaf Haacke (* 1951), Lutz Holland (* 1934), Rüdiger Roehl (* 1942) and Jürgen Steinau (* 1953) all have in common is their formal training at the Kunsthochschule Burg Giebichenstein, their preference for working with metal and their distinct passion for handicraft. The exhibition, organised by the Museum of Decorative Arts in conjunction with the cultural department of the borough of Treptow-Köpenick, contains outstanding works from their long careers and is on show at Köpenick Palace, a venue rich in historical significance.
In the palace, works by the four proponents of metal art are brought into a dialogue with works from earlier epochs that is at once interesting and richly associative.
